Cork City Council manages accessibility to the City to allow people live, work, shop, visit and carry out many business activities in the City. For that purpose it provides priorities for walkers, cyclists, public transport users, cars and parking. Particular attention is given to accessibility in the City Centre which is the centroid for employment, retail and leisure activities. The City Centre has been greatly enhanced through the improved public realm, parking facilities and by its very much enhanced retail and leisure offer to both residents of the City and visitors to the City. The City prides itself in being to the forefront in developing sustainable transport options and is currently involved in promoting travel modes which are an alternative to the private car.
The third section of Cork Walks, the City Centre Island, was launched by Lord Mayor, Cllr Terry Shannon on Thursday the 22nd of September as part of European Mobility Week 2011 celebrations.

Corn Market Street Renewal Project
The renewal scheme for Corn Market Street is being undertaken on a phased basis and incorporates a cut stone construction which follows on from St. Patrick’s Street and Daunt’s Square. Already a very attractive streetscape is evident as Phase I, which takes the renewal to Kyle Street, is nearing completion.....
Ballincollig Green Route Update
The scheme to improve the level of service for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users on routes to and from Ballincollig is being managed by Cork City Council.
Office Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday excluding public holidays. Traffic Counter The Traffic Public Counter will be open from 12.00 to 16.00 each day, Monday to Friday. As the Cash Office also closes at 4.00pm, please allow sufficient time for your application to be processed at the Traffic Counter and your payment to be receipted.
